Hi, I am sure it has happened to others but I can't find a relevant thread with fix. Today, the trunk won't open on my 2012 A4 B8 premium with key fob or door button. There is some transient noise of something moving at the press of the button but trunk doesn't open. Valet mode is not engaged and #*&% rear seats don't fold on this trim. Also, I can't find a keyhole on the trunk to manually open it with the key. Is it buried under the black plastic button cover? If so, how to remove the cover to access the key hole? Else, what are my options? Thanks much!

Could it be frozen? Pulling on the lid at the same time doesn't work? On cars with fixed rear seats there is a wire loop under the rear seat to open the trunk when the electric opening fails. See the owner's manual.

Its not frozen; we had a bright 60 degree day here in Nashville! Tried pulling/banging etc but wasn't aware of the wire loop. Gonna check the manual now; thanks so much!

Yes! Removed the bench and there it was indeed, sitting right underneath as described in the manual. Now, I need help with fixing the lock mechanism that's just making some noise at the press of the button and not opening the boot latch. Will appreciate some guidance!

All done! Went through the hassle of trying a compatible aftermarket latch that looked identical and installed OK but would not latch properly. Returned it and got a used genuine A6 latch (same part#) off ebay and it works perfectly.
