Tune my A4 or buy an S4?
Wondering if some more experienced audi enthusiasts can give a little input here. I just picked up a babied 2010 A4 prestige plus with 17k miles for $16,750 from a friend (paid around $900 tax/registration on top). It's my first German car, loving the feel but I need some more speed. I could sell it for 19-20k and I think I can get an S4 2013 or newer with the sport differential (with 30k+ miles) for around $30k because I can get into the dealer auctions. So it would end up costing me about $11,500 more after taxes. Its a good chunk of change but doable.
Should I just keep the A4 and tune it up or go for the S4? Bear in mind whatever S4 I get will likely have double the mileage of the car I have now...

Really it's what you want in a car, a tuned A4 will never get the power of an S4 unless you throw the equivalent difference of $$$ into it. Even if you do that, you probably won't have the reliability of a car that was designed for that much power. If you are going for performance (spirited/track driving), you should go for the S4. On the other hand, mods are fun, so A4 owners will more likely do performance mods and appearance mods, because many of us love to tinker. If I could have sprung for the S4 back when I joined the club, I probably would have left it stock for the most part, but I couldn't justify the extra $10k... or the speeding tickets! But I don't regret the A4 because it's fun getting into it and doing work, and I don't plan to race or track. Since it's mainly a daily driver I also appreciate the 30+ MPG...

Also, if I didn't have a kid coming in December, I'd probably sell my A4 and buy this... but the wife would be awfully "disappointed" if I did that.
