What size tire should I buy for my 17" wheels

My 2010 Avant came with 245/45/17.. this winter I out on 225/50/17 and I much preffered th ride with these.. so, wil go with the 225/50 when I buy new tires. Even the dealesrship here in Montreal is packaging rims with the 225/50 so thre must be something in it.
