Android Auto | system pauses | USB
When playing Tidal using Android Auto via USB-C from a Samsung S20, the system will sometimes pause. In other words, the music will stop playing for a few seconds and then start up again.
I turned off all of the driving-assistance features that I could find to see if this was the culprit, but the music pausing still happens.
I'm using this cable: "Anker Thunderbolt 3.0 Cable 1.6 ft (USB-C to USB-C) Supports 100W Charging / 40Gbps Data Transfer (Compatible with USB 3.1 Gen 1 and 2)."
Is it perhaps because I'm not using an official Audi USB-C cable?

I'd say use the OEM cable from your phone that came with it. Try that and see what happens. Cables can be iffy with things like android auto/carplay even when you buy nicer ones.

I have a similar issue with the USB-C port in the center phone compartment where my phone actually drains battery while it's plugged in. I think it might be an electrical issue with that port in particular.

I've had similar problems with Amazon Music in Ultra HD. Seems that the mobile data isn't always fast enough for high resolution music, especially if you are using the wifi hotspot in the car.

Happens to me on average every 10mins. I get the "no device connected that supports audi smartphone interface". However, if I don't do anything it reconnects by itself within 15-30 seconds. I just bought an Anker brand usb cable today and hopefully that fixes this issue, as I was using a Bluetooth headphone charging cable previously.

Turns out I was trying to send too much info. I lowered the setting from Tidal's "Master Quality" output to the lower "HiFi" output (see below), and it stopped doing the pausing thing.
I doubt a phone (mine is a Samsung S20) can actually send 24bit/192kHz anyway. But the Audi could probably processes 24bit/48kHz, so this is a little disappointing.
From Tidal:
TIDAL HiFi provides uncompressed lossless sound quality, streaming at 1411kbps or 16-Bit / 44.1 kHz. Master Quality audio reflects the original source and can stream up to 9216 kbps or 24-Bit / 192 kHz (typically 24-Bit / 96 kHz).

I also have a Samsung S20 and mine is still disconnecting even with a better cable. With the cable variable eliminated, I'm still not sure if it's the phone, android auto, or Audi that's the problem.
