Audi A4 B9 2.0TFSI - Burble tune possible?
Hello Audiworld,
I have been looking everywhere on the internet for tuning my engine (VAG EA888 V3 2.0TFSI) and the only results that show are a JB1/JB4 tune. I am looking to do a burble tune on my A4, what kind of exhaust modifications/ software modifications would I have to perform to achieve this tune?
Will installing a catless downpipe achieve the sound i'm looking for?

I dont think youre going to get that burble/pop pop youre looking for with this car, and if you do, its very very minor. I did a resonator delete and I can hear very faint "tap tap taps" when I let off the gas when Im driving through the neighborhood in the morning. However, once the car is warmed up, they pretty much go away. From my understanding, its not necessarily the exhaust that makes the burbles and pops, its the exhaust valve timing. A piggy back like the JB4 cant program for something like that, you would need a full ECU tune like APR.

You can might not be able to get it unless it gets custom tuned. The pops and crackles you are hearing is something called Anti-Lag that is programmed into the ECU to basically inject a small amount of fuel during the exhaust stroke and with the hot manifold it gets ignited which will in turn keep the turbo spooled up so there is less lag next time you are on the throttle. Though this sound is really awesome, it can have a very negative effect on stock cats with the excess heat. Anti-Lag is known to damage and destroy a stock cat. If you wanted to go a safer route you could always do a custom exhaust and add a high flow cat further down the line to keep it away from the heat source. You will likely run into damage on the stock turbo in the long run as well as the manifold because though designed to deal with the high heat, they are not combustion chambers and not designed to take an explosion inside of them.
