I moved to a new state that doesn't require a front license plate. Anybody know where to get a cheap original cover for the hole behind the plate? Part number/link welcome.

This is where i got mine from. https://www.europaparts.com/audi/a4/b9/2-0t.html . I know that ECS carries them as well.

By far the most expensive rectangular piece of plastic I have ever intentionally purchased. Must have though without a front plate

Ha, i agree. I'm sure you can find it cheaper in ebay, However that could take months with all they got going on. Hopefully they didn't drill holes in the area above it. Now I'm looking at covering all that grey up with some sort of black tape/wrap.

It's $28 for the proper OEM part on a $40,000 car. I can't imagine buying some random part from an unknown seller on Ebay.
