I was getting the creaking noise whenever the driver's side was loaded, like backing out of my garage or going over speed bumps. I just picked the car up today from the dealer. I'll have to do more driving to see if the creaking is gone.
Thanks for sharing. I found the tsb here.
Reading the description I think it is exactly what is happening. I don’t think I’m going to the dealer as I don’t have much time left on the lease. But let’s say it has been quite annoying for the last couple years

Hi all,
I have noticed the same problem with the cracking /squeaking of the chassis. In my case, it is coming from the front passenger side—somewhere under it. But I noticed something else. The intensity of noise rises with the temperature of „something“?!
I always have some craking from that side but it was not so intense. Yesterday I was driving my A4 for about 5 hours in the dense city traffic. So, 5 hours of average speed 35 km/h. The outside temperature was from 28 to 20 degrees. The intensity of cracking was raising and in the fifth hour, it became squeaking on every stop or start. Like the whole chassis was twisting and flexing in that area. It was unbearable.

@nmiller first try to put a cloth between the dashboard side and the decoration & door plastic trim, as in the picture here, then go to a test drive.
If the noises are gone, than you have to take down the door panel and put some tape on the clips of that panel (detailed in the link above)

Tnx for trying to help, void20. But this is not in my case. Last days it was just hot outside and definitely, the temperature has something to do with the cracking. When the temperature of the chassis is above some point, then cracking is more intensive.

Sorry that didn't help.
Can you record a clip with the noise?

So it seems I have this issue too, in right rear.
I can hear the noise in the spot marked in the picture from the first post.

While someone else was driving i listened in the trunk, and definitely the noise comes from fender area.
initially was going to blame the C-pillar trim (Quarter Window Trim).

i am wondering if I lube with something there, wouldn't help?

Found a TPI for this
"2044902/4 - cracking / creaking noises during load changes or strong torsion of the body".

Hi all, and thank you @Void20
Let's continue this misery. I managed to get TPI 2044902/5 file. I am uploading only the photo. I have not repaired it yet.
It is not in English, so I tried to translate it, and it goes something like this...

"Due to quality deviations of the adhesive bond between U-reinforcement plate P- of the threaded console T- for the aggregate attachment and the outside of the longitudinal member R-.....adhesive bond coming loose. As a result, during load changes or strong torsion of the body, creaking / grinding noises can occur from the front right and left footwell. Depending on the outside temperature, noise may only be heard in the right or left footwell for approx. 10 km to 15 km driving. The noise can be heard when driving off and braking... torsion of the body and in large gears during load changes. In some cases the sound is temperature dependent."

Sorry for missing part of the sentence. They keep those TPIs a secret. I cannot believe I have a premium car 5 years old, and I need to engage private investigators and "insiders" and then weld the car. And no mechanic wants to do this.

Hello,
I found TPI on erWin.audi.com. (7 EUR per hour) There are detailed instructions on how to fix this. I have not tried it yet because a tool from a steel rod needs to be crafted.
