I get extreme wind buffeting driving around 30mph, with the sunroof open and windows closed. By "extreme" I mean if feels like my eardrums are being crushed. It doesnt occur at higher speeds. If I crack open a window it goes away. The deflector at the front edge of the sunroof is up.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Could be that the rear vents are blocked, not sure where they're located on the A4 but usually they are behind the left and right hand side of the rear bumper. Although it would be usual for it to happen at just one speed..

I always have to crack a window too. I have similar problem with opening just one window a little. It's nice the car is tight, but ...one thing I have not tried is opening the vent to fresh air on the dash.

What year B9 A4? IIRC, the 2009 A4 came with a solid sunroof wind bar and there was a revision for one that was "toothed" which mostly solved the problem.
You folks should add your vehicle year, model, etc. to your sig and your location in the avatar if not already done.

Updated my profile, thanks for the suggestion.
I have a 2018 A4. The top edge of my car's wind bar is not a continuous, straight edge. Id say "toothed" would describe it.

I can't believe a car would be designed with an annoyance like this, but then I can't see what else could be "broken" with a new car. Unless it's something like cuke suggested.

One other thing I just thought of. When it occurred yesterday, I had the rear seat entirely flipped forward (bike in the car). On Friday night, driving with the seats in the normal position, I thought I was not getting the problem. So IDK. Ill have to doublecheck driving to work today. Id say the rear seat position could totally make a drastic difference.

As I wrote, take a couple of minutes and enter your car's model, year, etc. into your signature so people don't have to keep asking you for the info to answer a question.

As for the buffeting. I was able to check the 25-35mph range a bit this morning, with the rear seats in the normal position. No problems. All seems well. I'm going to cautiously conclude it only occurs with the rear seats forward, which makes sense. If the car did it *that*badly* all the time complaints would be rampant on forums. So, thanks again for the replies and apologies for the false alarm!
