Looks like the answer is a definite "yes". Discussion is in the "Apple CarPlay Problems" thread: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a4-...blems-2915342/

It's working for me on iphoneX. but it's very glitchy. If my pre-sense goes off (which it likes to beep at me in heavy traffic), I can no longer get to the carplay screen. I have to unplug, wait, and plug the phone back in

So, I played around with things a bit more, and I was able to get CarPlay working. This is what I found:
2017 A4 Prestige, MMI firmware: 0918
iPhone 6s + iOS 11.1.2 + Apple cable = CarPlay
iPhone 6s + iOS 11.1.2 + Belkin cable = CarPlay
iPhone 6s + iOS 11.1.2 + SyncWire cable = CarPlay
iPhone 8 + iOS 11.1.2 + Apple cable = CarPlay
iPhone 8 + iOS 11.1.2 + Belkin cable = CarPlay
iPhone 8 + iOS 11.1.2 + SyncWire cable = CarPlay
iPhone 8 + iOS 11.2 + Apple cable = CarPlay
iPhone 8 + iOS 11.2 + Belkin cable = CarPlay
iPhone 8 + iOS 11.2 + SyncWire cable = NO-GO
Note: Both the Belkin and SyncWire cables are listed as "Apple Certified"
What a huge pain in the butt.

I have an iPhone X and use the Audi cable and haven't had any issues running iOS 11.2. It's been a bit fickle with the iPhone X in general, but I haven't noticed any differences from 11.1.x to 11.2.

MMI version 0918
Anker Cable (but also tried Apple and Audi)
iphone6s and X
Problems: 1) whenever pre-sense dings at you, or you go into reverse and get the parking camera, there's a 80% chance you can't get back into CarPlay menu
2) Spotify and Pandora almost always displays "Unknown track, unknown artist, unknown album."
3) Apple Music almost always displays "unknown artist"
EDIT: also Bluetooth album art. I'm not entirely sure how this has been integrated, because I know the new bluetooth specs allow for album art to be trasmitted, but I get a really 50/50 chance of seeing my art or the generic "Urban" icon

Can't speak for the other problems since I only use CarPlay to be able to browse Amazon Music playlists that I have.
