The first 5 releases after the release installed at delivery are free. So if your car came with 2015/2016 then 2016, 2016/2017, 2017, 2017/2018 and 2018 are free. That's what "The Map Update includes the first five updates to the version of the map installed at the factory. The updates are issued every six months." means I think.

However, AudiConnect Prime includes "Over-the-Air Map Data Updates" but it doesn't say if this will give you map updates after the first 5 releases. Only time will tell I guess.

I downloaded the update but how does one tell what version of the map software is installed and what the version of the update is? Thanks.

It sure took a long time to complete the download. Anyone know how long it takes for the MMI to complete the update?

Depends on if you are doing the whole thing or just your region. I did just my region and it was 300MB via MMI. It downloaded at 300kbs. Took about 30 mins to download. If I decide to do the whole thing I'm going to use a USB drive.

Yes it can. There will be a charge for it if done at the dealership.

According to the my Audi site, "3. You can also have the new map data installed by an Audi dealer (there would be a charge for this service)."

MyAudi>overview>Audi connect services>choose your car. Under the services tab, swipe right till you see map update.

Any idea how to do the update without Audi Connect? I have downloaded the maps but of course don't have "Audi Connect" in my Menu.

Sorry, I didn't ask that correctly. I have it downloaded. I'm wondering how long it takes the MMI system to install it into the nav.
