Normal AC Refrigerant Pressure Range
Hi,
Does anyone know what the normal operating refrigerant pressure levels are? When the AC is Off and when is On.
I had the following issue > > >
The mechanic over-topped my AC with gas.
That manifested tomorrow (on a hot summer day) with AC not blowing cold air. I had connected OBD eleven and there was an error B10AE22 "High-Pressure Sensor - upper limit exceeded"
The system then prevented me from turning on the AC switch. The same behavior when the pressure is too low. I did not measure the pressure, with OBD eleven, at this point in time or before.(my mistake)
Then I panicked and forced the fault clear with OBDeleven and forced AC to start. And then, at some moment, I got KABOOOM !!!! on my hood. Safety valve was activated, and the steam of gas went out under the pressure.
I got back to the mechanic, and he topped my gas again. He said some gas had been left in pipes, about 50 grams.
After that, I found the OBDeleven option for live monitoring refrigerant pressure and I have noticed a few things.
- When AC is off, refrigerant pressure rises up to 15Bars. If I turn on the AC at this moment, the AC refrigerant pressure jumps up to 30Bars, then fall back to about 17-19
- If I turn on AC immediately when the engine is on, there are no such significant high-pressure jumps.
And my questions are, what is a normal operating refrigerant pressure range?
At which pressure will the safety valve activate?

AC woes cont'd: pressure too low @low side, proper charge in system - points to bad expansion valve?
