Welcome to Audi. Yes, that's normal. Actually pretty good that you almost made it to 10k. Oil consumption is also higher during the first 3k miles as the engine breaks in. Check your owner's manual on page 313. Audi states oil consumption may be up to 0.5 quart per 600 miles depending on driving style. Audis are known to burn oil. Various opinions on the subject, but I've heard from some more reliable sources that their piston rings suck in general. In the past there were recalls and extended warranties on earlier versions of the 2.0T engine that consumed large amounts of oil, but even the latest ones still do. All my Audis consumed oil. The worst one was my 2007 S4 that consumed 1qt/1000 miles. My last one, my 2013 RS5 consumed about 1qt per 3-4k miles. Some owners find theirs doesn't consume oil. Several debates on how to break in the engine. Some claim if you drive it hard from the get go instead of following Audi's break-in instructions the piston rings will seal better and the engine won't consume oil. I don't really buy into that. I generally follow manufacturer's recommend break-in instructions, which are very similar regardless of the manufacturer. I now drive an AMG, and it consumes zero oil. I drive it hard if not harder than my RS5, so you be the judge. Audi engines in general just don't seem to seal as well as other engines.

You sound like a dumb lacky with your stupid post. I suppose you have never opened the hood to see if there is a motor under there.

If I were you, I would just run it, and see how long it will go. You may go 20-30,000 miles before it runs out.......

Burning one quart of oil over a 10,000 mile period is pretty standard for modern 2.0T engines. BMW doesn't consider their engines to have a problem with "high oil consumption" until it's one quart every 600-1,000 miles, depending on the engine. I think Audi is probably similar.

Feel free to "contact Audi corporate" though. Let us know what they say.

Totally normal consumption for a new engine. Contact corporate for what? Save your time and enjoy the car.

Every car is different. My A4 with 55,000 miles never used oil between oil changes. Our Q5 is down 1/3 quart at 10,000 miles.

Have your dealer do the included 10k oil change and keep an eye on the oil level in the coming months.

I did not have much oil level drops for 2017 and 2019 (so far) between oil changes. Of course they will say it's normal, as per manual that is normal.

Do you have some driving habits or city traffic that would put extra stress on the engine? In any case, I would not waste time fighting this until it either repeats or gets worse.

Not sure why you believe your post provides a relevant answer to the OP's question. The OP bought a brand new car and believed he should be able to drive through an oil change period without having to check the level. He's not unlike millions of other people that think the same way. Unfortunately, unlike yourself, not everyone is an Audi Master certified tech. We all know that he was incorrect in his thinking which is a simple mistake, but you're the one that comes off sounding like a dumb lackey. Posts like yours are unnecessary and do not represent the vast majority of Audi owners that belong to this forum. Oh, and by the way, lackey is spelled with an "e" and there is no "motor" under the hood. It's an engine!
