Default Re: Carribean Blue

I got the carribean blue and one reason was precisely as you state: to show off the alum trim. With the silver and other lighter colors the trim seems lost (my test drive was a silver). So far no issues with swirl marks, I have hand waxed it once with excellent results. I'm not sure it gets dirtier faster than any other car I've had, but it was a lot easier and quicker to wash after the wax job.

The carribean blue tends to be lighter in the sun and darker in the shade (hmmm, this does sound stupid!!), and when we picked it up from the dealer at night we thought they got the wrong color - thought it was moro blue. Next day we realized it changes quite a bit with the light.

I've seen 2 other cabs here one was a light green (looked terrible to me) and the other was exact copy of mine: carribean blue/platinum interior. Was not in a position to wave but would do so - hey it is a pretty unique and, so far, exclusive club!!

Default Re: Carribean Blue

I guess we have to wash our cars more often in the UK than Texas!

I am finding that dark Audi colours do tend to suffer big time with swirl marks. We have a Merlot Red A4 which is awful for it and I have to be incredibly careful with the Caribic Blue Cab, though most of the scratches seem to have have waxed out. If you see even a brand new Audi in the showroom in, say, Moro Blue check it out for swirl marks. My dealer says that is the worst colour for it and they pretty much have to fully polish any Moro Blue car that comes in for servicing.
I think VAG cars may be worse than most and my feeling is it coincided with the change to water based paints several years ago (but this is just a feeling not backedup with any scientific fact). I have had BMWs and Jags which just don't seem to suffer as much.
That is my only reason against dark colours (even though I chose one in the end!). With the Cab I think a dark hood with a light colour provides a good contrast and shows the ali trim off.
I don't think there is a bad colour for the Cab (other than Alpaka Beige!).

I have seen one at the dealer this color. It looks quite good, better than in the photo. I did buy a Moro blue one though.
