Default Speedometer Adjustment

I am thinking about going from 16" to 17". Does the ECU automatically adjust the speedometer or do I have to take to the dealer.

(bigger rims will throw the speedometer off)

Default diameter should be the same

the circumference of the wheel should still be the same even after adding new larger wheels as long as the correct tyres are fitted, a good indication of this is to put the new wheel in the spare tyre well in the back to see if it fits the same.
In any case, im sure all speedo readings are taken from the gear box not from the wheel rotating!
