Is there a blank fuse in the panel I can use for power?
#2
there probably is. are you familiar with a continuity tester?? It looks like a screwdriver with a
wire coming off the handle and an alligator clip at the end of the wire. The "screwdriver" tip is a point, like an awl. There is a lightbulb in the handle of the screwdriver part. Turn the key on, open the fuse box panel. Inside you will see several bolts around the outside of the fuse panel. These are grounds, attach the alligator clip to one of them. Then take the pointy part of the "screwdriver" and poke it into the metal terminals of any open fuse. If the light lights up, walla you have power there. The second part of the test is once you find power, turn the key off and touch it again. If the light comes on again, you have "constant" power. If it doesn't come on with the key off, you have "switched" power. The latter is usually better for running accessories other than a radio or anything that needs memory because you don't run a chance of leaving it on after shutting the car off and draining your battery. This small lesson obviously would pertain to any car, not just the Audi. Let me know if you have questions....
