Default My 22 Allroad Build Thread

This will probably end up being quite long. lol

For some context, by new Allroad is #73 in an extremely long line of all types of cars. Granted, I'm 58 - but it is still a bit ridiculous.

As for wagons - ever since I saw the 1998 V70R wagon a long time ago, I have wanted a wagon/avant. I had a 2006 S60R and tried to the get a V70R in the same year...but they were impossible to find at the time.

My first Audi was a 1983 5000 (I had it a week before it broke down - so they took it back) in 1984, followed quickly by an Audi GT Coupe in 1985. I wish I still had that GT. My own 2 last Audis were a 2016 S5 and S6. With the S6 I was really active on the forums and did a lot of mods. We also had a 2018 Q7 Prestige, and now have a 2021 Q7 Prestige. So I pretty much know the brand well.

I won't go into too much detail, but when I moved recently from LA to Seattle, I realized my X5 with 22s and big horsepower were not a good fit for my personality (**** retentive) and both the weather and roads here. All those years I complained about LA roads. lol. So I sold it and flew to SLC to pick up a 2022 Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve, with the thoughts that a real luxury (2nd level autonomous driving, 3 front screens, leather everywhere, night vision, full air suspension and 4x4 capabilities, and well - too many other options to write) 4x4 would be good for this area. It is a beautiful car that is such a step up from the GC SRT8 I had in 2008, and my last Wrangler Sahara (I used Wranglers as a dog car for my 3 Dobermans) in 2016. As much as I love the GC's capability and amenities, it is missing the driving experience I prefer. So with only 2k on the clock, I am selling it. And the more I am on the forums, the more I am seeing first model year issues. But I should have known better than to break my own rule of no first-model-year cars - of any make.

The only other cars I really wanted are a Defender 110 X and the Allroad. I ordered a Defender X, and it arrived after 10 months only to get damaged at the port. The dealer also tried to add 20k to the MSRP even after we had an agreement, in addition to having to "repair" the part of the car's damage versus "replacing" it. Not acceptable. On top of that, the more research I did on the entire dealer network on the west coast, and that we are in the 3rd model year of the X, I made the decision the JLR practices don't align with mine.

So here we are - I got my last favorite dream car. One that is very rare.

Here it is as I was about to drive off in it. The 400-mile drive home thru Idaho, Oregon, and the Snoqualmie Pass in WA were beautiful, a bit treacherous, and was handled with extreme confidence. I had freezing temps, rain, snow, ice and elevation changes in those 400 miles. And the Allroad made it a breeze.

The last photo is what it will look like with the new 21" rims.

All my old Audi aftermarket vendors and I will be getting reacquainted soon.

Here's to fun times with the Allroad and this great community.

Congratulations! I've found that PNW dealers in general (across many brands) are a PITA to deal with so good idea to go to Boise. 5 years ago I ended up getting a BMW from a dealer in Idaho falls for the same reasons. I'm still early in my buying decision process but have been stalking various Allroads across the country and did see a few at that Boise dealership.

Congratulations and welcome back!!
Looking forward to seeing those wheels mounted. Should look great and properly OEM+. What other plans do you have? Are you going to go lowering links or CETE?

Congratulations! Look forward to seeing the mods. What do you think of the Dew Silver in person?

I recently saw dew silver in person and it is more interesting than most silver cars. Seems to somehow have more deptth and complexity along with some slight color shifting depending on the light. Way nicer than I'd imagined. I'm not usually a fan of silver cars but this color changed my mind.

Hi and thx all. The Dew Silver - like Rich R and a few other have said - is interesting based on the light. It really does shift quite a bit. I was a little hesitant before I saw it in person as in some photos it reminded me of the pearlescent whites from the 2010s - and I was not into that color at all.

If I had to describe it is a silver with a little hint of blueish green to it...which is why it seems to shift.

I also plan to wrap it at some point...so the BO package is great compliment on many colors I might choose.

The 21's have arrived, as well as the Michelin Pilot Sport AS4s in 255/40/21. Hopefully, I'll be able to have them installed tomorrow. I am assuming the 2022's have the TPSM on the stock 20's - so will have to have those moved to the 21's.
Also going to try and put a coat of ceramic on them today - I have a left over CK Quartz UK that needs using.

Second mod completed - Wheels on! (Just realized they put the floating center caps back on the stock 20's!?!?)

First was the sunglass holder. lol

Tint next week, ordered OEM Audi accessories - rubber mats, touchscreen film, cargo mat, rear 3 sunshades, license plate frames, Black Audi rings front and back, etc. - delay in arriving.

More pics when I get the chance.
