And FWIW, not sure that the 5K OCI is going to make all that much difference. Sounds to me like for those of us who keep the car north of 75-85K miles, there will be a necessary wallet opening event for a "cleaning". Not end of world but something could live without.
I do not disagree with you. We just bought my wife a 2017 Lexus RX350 F Sport. The thing is practically maintenance free for the first 100k+. The valve coking is one of the many things along with the required maintenance schedule that influenced our decision against getting an Audi Q7. With that said I still love my A6!

Toyota uses a system called D4S. It basically has throttle body injection at low RPMs to wash the intake valves. It is a fabulous system and works very well. When the valve springs were replaced in my 460 stuff under the valve covers was immaculate, its also a patented system.

More frequent oil changes in the Audi aren't going to clear up the coking, one needs a solvent (gas) to do that or a wire brush I'm sorry to say.

2014 thanks for your input. I guess almost every vehicle has some issue or other. It does however irritate me that "Truth in Engineering" purveyor of 50K+ A6 luxury uber German vehicles has put out numerous vehicles with flawed engineering. The least they might do is assure their customers that they will take care of any issues related to valve coking in the first 100K of car's life but then again VAG is not Lexus/Acura. I shall enjoy my A6 for the next 3-4 years (it is now a few months over 2 years old with 21K miles) and then bid it farewell and leave the valve cleaning and other things that may come up to the next owner. Car is lovely but too risky for me to hang onto long term.

This thread has some UOAs from a 2013 Audi Q5 2.0T: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/q5-...sults-2868038/
Looks like 10k miles was ok on Castrol Edge 0W-40 and Mobil 1 0W-40.
