5k Intervals or 10k?

I would say it does not make a difference in 2.0 vs 3.0. It's more of a personal preference, or related to what type of oil you use and what your driving characteristics are. If you want to know for sure what you or your car needs, get an oil analysis.

Pretty cheap insurance, IMHO, to just do it every 5k. If you are up to do it yourself, it is really easy. Take to oil out from the top, change filter from up top and fill with oil. I understand that there will be a lot of different opinions on whether it is necessary. I think it is, others don’t, but its really inexpensive to just do it and be safe. I have done it on both 2.0t and 3.0t engines.

Full Synthetic
I drive normal and don't speed, reason why I got the 2.0 instead.
owners manual says 10k
I'm at the 5k mark and the car still feels smooth. 80-85% oil left.
Maybe I should do 8k just to be safe

The dealer charges only $49.99 so it's extremely cheap.
Its more about having to go back to the dealer frequently.
I drive a lot. In 2 months I can easily put 5k miles.

Smookes, if you are accumulating miles that fast, there shouldn't be any concerns with doing 10k mile intervals assuming the correct oil is being used.

Seems like the right choice.

Do my own on our VW as well as old A6. New one we take to the dealer where they fill AdBlue for free. Never had a hitch going 10k for all. Granted, I do buy the full synthetic at $9 a quart, but engines run/ran just as good as new. VW has a 1.8T EA888, of the same generation IIRC as 2.0T EA888.

Do a search on how many A6’s have seized or failed due to changing the oil only at 10k miles. I cannot find one or have I ever heard of one. Oils are significantly better these days and the old rules only apply if you own shares in oil producers.
