Annoying Auto E-Brake and Engine Shut off with Door Opening Solution

So, should the brake automatically come on when I open the door and am in gear?

1. Emergency brake is no longer "auto-engaged" when the engine is turned off. Also, as a result, the seat belt fastening requirement is now moot since the e-brake is now set/released manually only by the driver.
2. "Auto engine shutoff" when driver door is opened is disabled.
No more having to remember to fasten your seat belt or manually hit the ebrake to drive the car a few feet or having to restart the engine when opening the driver door for a moment. Just like the "old" days.
I believe these have already been disabled in MMI software 0609 and may not have been enabled in the first place for software earlier than MMI 0566.
If you have these "features" and they annoy you, request the dealer perform TSB 2031850/3 to have them disabled. Note that any Vag-Com mods that were done to the Convenience Module, i.e. keyfob window/sunroof open/close, will have to be redone as they will be overwritten.
While the TSB will result in eliminating the auto-on e-brake feature when you place the car in park and turn off the car as previously described, it does not remove the auto-release of the e-brake if you set it manually and drive off - that feature is still present. The seat belt requirement is still there for the auto release to occur (or you can manually release it). If the e-brake is not set manually, it will not set automatically.
However there is one exception I discovered...
It was asked what happens if you open the door while the car is running and in gear. The answer is that the e-brake will automatically engage with a warning message (at least while my foot was on the floor brake). I had never tried this before the TSB, so I'm assuming it operated the same way prior to the update.

Now I just have to remember to turn the car off when I exit and that the e-brake is not automatically on when I put the car in gear.

Audi of America says that this is a safety feature. Yet, it is not a feature on the 2014 to current versions. If it was a safety feature, why not continue it? This is like deciding not to put seat belts in a car after years of including them as standard feature.
Thanks -- and hoping it all works out!!!
Thankfully mine does not cut the engine but i will experiments as i have auto engine on/off disabled.

Neither of mine had the engine shut off when you opened the door though. It does stop the parking brake from being applied when you open the driver's side door, at least.
