I was not aware that akrapovic made exhausts for our cars. Your car should be a beast with the new motor in. I absolutely love that color. You are truly talented. Kudos to you my man! Can't wait to read the next installment!
After seeing the latest picture above, I wondered if Jack Daniels Audi did the same separation of sub-frame and body, when they replaced my engine? I guess that would be the way to do it right. It's a very interesting picture, don't you think?

Oh, and that color is sublime!

Also made a presumption that you're the Audi Dealer in Iasi. Do you plan on putting it on display at your dealership?

This has got to be the daddy of all Audi builds so far..... i'm impressed!

You should start selling retrofit packages for the facelift headlights....a lot of people want this.

BTW... can I ask about the fitment of the RS6 exhaust... is it a straight fit on the S6?

No its not. You have to mod your bumper to make it fit.

Hello, sorry for not posting for a while now here about the updates.

Thank you all for the kind words, just makes me feel happier and more satisfied with what i am doing.

I will try to answer your questions (where i know) and give detailed updates about how the things come along.

Hopefully till summer this will be finally up and running

@das2.7t - the engine is different than the 3.0T i was modding before.

Initially i went with 4.0T - S8 520hp and corresponding transmission (engine pretty much brand new - 100 km) but we got in some trouble with fitting the gearbox and i decided i am not doing things properly... Pictures of the engines and transmission were posted in this thread i think several pages earlier.
btw i have one new S8 complete engine and gearbox for sale

So i decided to make no more compromises and go with the top 4.0T RS6 performance 2017 - 605hp to be sure this way that the car itself will finally be a true RS6 sedan (performance version).

It took a while to get it from Audi since i had to wait for the RS6 2017 to be dismantled (and there are almost none to be dismantled and be brand new).

Finally after months of waiting and lots of discussions i was able to purchase the RS6 performance engine with only 48miles - practically new.

Together with that i purchased the transmission and pretty much everything that is in the engine bay and also the cardan shaft to make sure no surprises will appear again and delay the final result even further.

The workshop isn't mine, it is actually a official Audi workshop from my home town. They were incredibly supportive with my project and they were the key in the end in building this project. Incredibly dedicated and motivated guys that i am proud to work with.

We work as a team in every aspect. My background is far from being a mechanic or auto specialist, but i did my best in being supportive especially with information, research, ideas, project management, design and in many situations giving a hand whether it was about electrical schemes, mechanic related work or anything else (except painting where i could have only done damages ).

I have/had the pleasure to work with very proficient people whether it was about technical issues, body work, painting, leather specialists, parts suppliers or electronics related guys and everybody made their best to go ahead and hopefully finish this project.

I am keeping a cost of everything - here i think i am good at
The project evolved more than i initially expected so we had to redo the budget several times, but i feel happy with how it is evolving and i think it is worth the investment. Since it is not a business for me i always put "the emotions ahead of reason", but i had to make sure the costs won't go rocket high (although for many they are somehow extreme).

As said about my Audi dealer is fully supportive with the project and hopefully at some point the car will go back to the factory (visiting of course) to hear some of their opinions about this project.

Everything we do with this car is fully documented, all parts are purchased either new or like new, always with contract, invoice and warranty and once it will be done we will go to the motor vehicle authority to re-aprrove the car in its current form. Since we kept everything pretty clean and safe (including all work has been done at Audi official dealer there should be just a formality (i hope).

@Nakedhoof - your assumption is correct.

Usually this is the easiest way to remove the engine/transmission from the car. That "table" is a specially designed tool to make this. It is slightly expensive and not all the dealers have it, but in this case i was happy they have it and the work was easier to perform.

The car was on display for a while (when it was complete first time we finished the bodywork and 3.0T engine upgrades) and will probably be displayed again once it is done. There will be some photo-shooting sessions at the dealer at the end and hopefully some nice videoclips done in the future.

@ Euro 4.2 Quattro - the RS6 exhaust is plug&play in your S6, but in order to accommodate the round mufflers you will have to change your rear skirt as our colleague erdem-1612 specified.

About the updates...

We finished installing the new engine, transmission and accessories on the car and we are working on the electrical part - there is some additional wiring involved - we hope to have it done in about two weeks.

I wanted to go directly with the Miltek cerakote downpipes (which i purchased) but since for me it felt they push against the firewall too much and because they weren't a straight fit with the Akrapovic exhaust i gave up on them and went with the original downpipes that come in RS6 performance.

I decided to upgrade the ceramic brakes as well because the RS6 performance onces are even lighter than the RS6 ceramic brakes i had on my car.

Here are some shots of the progress:

Default R8 Steering wheel conversion

About the R8 steering wheel conversion i was first preoccupied about the safety.

A6 C7/7.5 comes with dual stage airbag while R8 comes only with one stage airbag, plus that airbag manufacturers are different ( TRW vs Takata if i remember correctly).

In this case my main preoccupation was to address the safety issue first and then to see if we can make the commands work.

The only airbag that worked plug and play with A6 was the B9 A4/A5 airbag which is also dual stage. Unfortunately the steering wheels from A4 B9 and R8 are different when it comes to how you secure the airbag into the steering wheel.

Besides that, the whole construction/build of the R8 airbag is different from the build of the A4 B9 airbag (you can see in the attached pictures). Another difference is that the hight of one airbag is different than the other. Plus that i wanted the A4 B9 airbag wrapped in leather just like the R8 one (from what i know there isn't one yet available and even if it was the front casing of the airbags differ - one is taller than the other)

So we decided to make something to be able to securely install a A4 B9 Airbag on a R8 steering wheel and address the above issues. So we decided to 'remake' the entire airbag (structural, form and shape).

So we got down to the drawing board and designed our own casing for the airbag (considering everything - how the bag sits, the orifices where the hot air will be guided in case of an airbag deploy, etc.)

Then, once the design was completed we started creating the pieces from hard aluminum using a CNC machine.

Below some pictures of the progress and the final result - airbag remake

The next stage - stage that i've seen has been addressed by others as well - is to make functional the steering wheel commands - it is clear that we need to build a custom can-module and re-route/re-write some can commands - and hopefully we will be doing this soon. Anybody that wants to contribute is welcomed and together we may be able to create a retrofit kit for A6/A7 that is safe and easy to install.

I will update the thread when we have any solution for this as well.
