Default Automatic engagement of emergency brake

I just took delivery of my 2013 S6 yesterday (brilliant black, black sport seats, LED's, 20" wheels, side assist, black headliner, brushed aluminum) and I've noticed that every time I turn the ignition on the emergency brake is engaged (without me engaging it before turning the ignition off). It seems this is an automatic function and I've never noticed it on any of my prior Audis (and it's quite annoying). I've looked at the car settings and can't seem to find a way to disengage this feature. Anyone have any ideas?

With 2013 A6/S6, you need to have your seat belt fastened. The brake will auto release as soon as you put it in drive or reverse and tap on the accelerator. You get used to it (and you should be wearing your seat belt anyway).

That isn't my experience. I have to manually undo the parking brake after every cold start.

SA said it was part of pre-sense.

He's incorrect. If it's not working, something is wrong with your car. Mine will auto disengage every time so long as my seat belt is fastened. Are you stepping on the gas? You'll feel it disengage after you give it a bit of torque. It jerks just a bit as it releases then the car keeps going as you give it more gas.

Your SA is incorrect. If you put your seat belt on, put it in reverse, step on the gas, the E brake will release. I do this every morning without any failure. Try it!

Default Thanks!

...and, of course, I always wear my seat belt!
