Default Both headlights cracked

Both of the headlights on my 2016 A6 Prestige have developed cracks. Moisture is getting in. My dealer says they don't have any record of this kind of failure. There hasn't been any damage to the car. Has anyone seen this before? I hate to put $8K into replacing them.

Haven't seen anything like this on too many of any kind of car. Could be related to the environment or just simply a manufacturing defect. IMO spending $8k is a rip, buy used?

You can buy them used for ~$600 and guessing an indy shop could put them in for a few hundred more, possibly with a trip to the dealer for alignment / calibration.

You might even take a stab at it yourself?

That is way too coincidental they are cracking in almost exact opposite sides. Im guessing they will not cover it........Almost like there is some type of stress at that location.

It is very suspect that they are pretty much the same location and length.....

Makes me wonder if he bottomed out the front end on something.

Wow. Sorry to see this. Very odd to see both headlights cracked in almost the same location and to the same degree. No way that this is a random coincidence. I'm wondering, as others have, if there was some type of load or stress that transferred across the vehicle and down to both headlights.

Very interested in how you ultimately resolve this. Please update the post as you navigate the issue.

You mention that the dealer has not seen this before. Are they going to do anything about it? You mention cost of $8K, which implies that Audi will not cover it.. How about contacting Audi and see what they say if you are still under wrrty. I would not spend that much to fix it. Im sure there are alternate sources to do that.
With the hood open, what is directly above the crack? I cannot imagine closing the hood would cause it. Its not something that is opened all the time and there is a buffer area between hood and light fixture.
