Disappointed with Audi and Audi Connect
#31
Without an Audi Connect Prime subscription the MMI will do everything that is car and entertainment related plus Nav with a limited internal POI database. You won't get features requiring online data including traffic, Google online search, Google Earth overlay and street view, destination send to car and other myAudi app features, in car wifi and weather, news, gas prices, events, etc.
Ok thanks... is it possible to have a wifi connection thru a carrier without having Audi connect? Or are they basically one and the same?

5 months of Sirius traffic on 2012-2015 models can had for $9.98 total when purchased in a package with Sirius radio at $28.46. $38.45 all in w/fees/taxes for both.

I must be missing something in this discussion.
Traffic on my 2012 A6 has nothing to do with the data plan. It's a SiriusXM service which, by itself, costs $47.88/year.
I didn't need the unlimited data from T-Mobile, so got a sim through US Mobile for about $7/month. Works fine. Asks me each time if I want to use the data or just what it has cached.

US Mobile is still working for you on your 2012? Mine stopped working in January.

The system asked me if I wanted to use the data connection (as it has done since I migrated to a limited data plan).
After affirmation, 3G indicator came on. Google Maps loaded. I checked for nearby gas stations and it showed me a list (not sure if that's from a POI list or online).
But, anyway -- all seemed to work. Since US Mobile is independent of Audi, not sure why your connection would have stopped working.
I assume they are a reseller. I don't know whose service they are reselling--so it's possible that they are reselling T-Mobile and an end is in sight. Not sure how you could tell.
But for now, it seems to work. Car only has 27,000 miles on it. Like new. So nice to drive--will resist replacing it and resolve any data plan issues.
FWIW, mine is a Premium Plus. With the factory stereo and lacking some of the gadgets in the Prestige--it's never needed an update to the MMI.
I suppose it's possible that some of the updates for the Prestige & Bose system may conflict with older data plans. Factory stereo sounds so nice, hard to imagine it better with Bose.
Don't know. But it all seems to be working.

US Mobile uses T-Mobile as its provider. As reported by many others I think you will find that (for some reason) Google earth will work but the rest of the AC services will be either very slow or eventually will not connect at all. The car's sound sysyems would have no effect whatsoever.
