Is Google Street View available for our vehicles? Is there an update o have it enabled?

 

I don't think we have enough info right now to answer that. It sounds like something Audi is going to implement, possibly requiring a cellphone.

I'm sure we'll know it when it happens.

The Bluetooth online car phone's UMTS module makes true-to-life 360° panorama pedestrian's eye-view images available in-car.

Audi connect stands for connected mobility combining all applications and developments linking existing and future Audi models to the internet, to their owner and to the surrounding infrastructure. A built-in UMTS module and a customer's SIM card on board the car integrate online information such as navigation with point-of-interest search, Google Earth images and Street View, weather, news, Audi traffic information online or Audi music stream, directly into Audi's optional MMI navigation plus.

A WLAN hotspot connects mobile devices to the internet from the rear seats while driving or from all seats when the car is stopped. Audi connect thus stands for extraordinary infotainment and entertainment capabilities that raise in-car comfort and fun to a new level.

How do i get to the audi music app on the MMI?

 

I'm not sure what you're trying to find. There is no "music app" per se. You can play music via the jukebox, SD card, CD changer, AMI interface (if you have one) or Bluetooth. They all fall under Media from the MMI control panel except for Bluetooth streaming.

Is that what you're after?

 

I believe he's referring to the music app that Audi is suppose to release that uses its wi-fi to stream music much like streaming music to your smartphone. An article I read somewhere is that it will contain few thousand channels to be accessed. I haven't heard or read of any update though when this is suppose to be rolled out.

 

This is live in Europe. You download an Audi app to your iphone. You connect the iphone by WiFi, a new connection shows on your MMI. You preselect internet radio stations on your iphone, these are then uploaded to your MMI and show on the screen to play. I am not sure if it plays through the iphone or through the MMI's internet connection. It sounds like it plays through MMI's internet connection, but I cannot find the confirmation.

Here is a website that I think is in test form for Audi USA (found it by luck on google). It shows the internet radio stations on the MMI and the notation it is coming from the WiFi connection (not bluetooth) of the iphone.

I saw from a German site that this ability to connect was added to the MMI on production after the 45th week of 2011 (at least for Europe) I have no idea for the US.

I am expecting my Q7 beginning of April, so we'll see if this is included in the US bound MMIs.

 

Wondering how would the app be better than bluetooth streaming that we already have. Love that feature. We can stream from Pandora, Spotfire, Apple's regular app. Man..wish we could stream video that way as well!
Only downside I saw is that the album art does not come over and also time counter does not change. Did not see distortion of sound..which is such a welcome surprise.

 

Overall I agree with you, and I will be perfectly happy with the bluetooth streaming approach.

I believe the thinking is it is safer to choose a station from the MMI rather than picking up your iphone to select a station . Also those states that have no cell phone laws, it is ok to select a station from an installed device, but you could get a ticket for even holding your iphone to change a station.
