So today my wife took the car to work then called me saying the car started shaking EPC light came on and then service engine light as well. She pullde over turned ig off and now wont start. When i got there i tried to turn it on and it did but was idling bad. Had it towed to a shop, now guys is telling me he'll take a better look tomorrow. (Got it there close to closing) but so far he said one cylinder has lost compression. Any ideas guys? Car barely has 80k.

What year is your A6 and what engine does it have? Chances are it's a 2.0T so if I had to guess why it lost compression it either overheated or ran low on oil.

Interesting, searching this forum, most likely cause is bad plug or bad coil, followed in a distant 3rd by intake valve carbon buildup. All these easy and cheap to fix, gl.
