Installing a used 5f module

So the recent mmi update (942) did not fix the static/popping sounds coming from the sound system in my 2013 A6. Dealer/Audi is recommending I put in a new 5f module @ $3k. I was wondering if I can get a used module (4G0-035-74 6-D) do the swap and have the dealer recode. Thoughts? Seems I can get one from a wrecked Audi for a lot cheaper but not sure since it was already coded.

Did you ask the service manager if it would be possible and if yes, would they be willing to do the recode?

Many dealers in my experience are not willing to help you with work arounds to save you money or recode used modules unless you buy new components. However there are a few so good luck on that search.

During my top-view retrofit... I discovered it's easier to have used module that already has coding in it instead of new modules that have not yet been coded. The used module if an exact duplicate to your car's settings, doesn't need any recoding. It's almost like a plug and play. But a new module won't work without coding and therefore not plug and play.

I encountered same thing when installing my New dealer bought module for the power trunk feature. This was a headache... I should have bought used with existing coding already there.
