No disrespect, but this intake does not look very "engineered" for this application (it is an A6 afterall). One step above soup cans and duct tape. I have seen others for an older S4 that brought air in through the grill using a similar path to the stock one. I think it might have been from AWE.

Hehehe. Funny. The boys over at USP are good. Very good. I think they know what they are doing, and judging from the threads on audizine, others can attest. I mod my intake and exhaust on every vehicle in my garage except the Q7. Having said all of this, I agree. It doesn't look that great. The intake/exhaust recipe is the same: More air = more horsepower. Dragsters have a huge intake and very short exhausts to produce max thrust. However, they are loud. I don't think you touch the intake without doing the exhaust. It doesn't make sense. You need both. Providing a bigger straw at the input with the same straw at the output is severely limiting. The same is true the other way.

Manufacturers kill the input to reduce the noise. Most all of them do it. Even my brothers 2012 Shelby Mustang GT500 has baffles on the intake to reduce the noise. Taking off the shroud and exposing the filter is always easy for quick hp gains and the noise also increases. Both my bikes are like this. People on this site like the noise. We want to hear it. I say only mess with the intake if you free up the exhaust. Period. It's nice to look good while doing it, but simple usually works best.

Cheers,
Ed
