Just purchased a 2012 A6...will my old Winter Tire setup work? (Cross-posted with AZ)
Sorry that I'm cross-posting with AZ...just not sure which forum is more frequented.
Let me preface this by saying I *think* it'll work just fine but wanted to get confirmation/disconfirmation before winter actually hits.
I'm coming from a 2010 S4 with 19" 255/35R19 tires. Best winter tire size was 225/45R18. I set those up with some inexpensive wheels (5x112, et35, 66.56 (or 66.66 can't remember) hub rings. Worked great. Diameter % difference was less than a 1%.
Now the C7 A6 w/ 19" Sport Package, hence, comes with 255/40R19 Tires. From what I can tell, the current wheels will work no problem with the A6 (although could anyone tell me if the hub diameter is the same?) but what's your opinions on the tires? From tirerack, my tires *should* be 225/50R18, not 225/45R18, so a height reduction of 5mm. This difference results in a diameter difference of just under 4% where the spedo will read 62.4 when the vehicle is actually going 60.
Of course, it's not perfect, but I don't see it being too big of an issue, other than a slight spedo error.
Are there any tire gurus here that could chime in? Thanks!

The hub diameter now is 66.6, so you won't need any hub rings. Should work fine as long as they clear the rotors and calipers. You may need spacers depending upon the wheel. Should be fine though... The 35 offset is fine.
