Default Muting the navigation

How do I mute the navigation voice while driving?

Should be simple - but I can't figure it out.

While the navigation is"speaking", just roll the RH thumb wheel on the steering wheel down and it will lower the sound setting of the nav system.

Click the Voice Control Button on the steering wheel and wait for the system to prompt you for a voice command....

then say "Voice Guidance Off"

voila!!

There is also a setting within the nav screen in the MMI. I beleive there are three levels of detail. 1 for everything, 1 is for abbreviated version, and 1 for off.

I tried this. It lowers the volume but still doesn't mute it. It still interrupts the music.

If you don't have the cold weather package, there is a button on the steering wheel with a "*", you can program that to mute/unmute voice navigation.

I do have cold weather. Can any other buttons be programmed?

As was pointed out by BlackZ above. You can use the MMI when in nave mode, use the MMI to to change it to voice guidance off. If you do it via this method it will not come on and interupt your music.

Finally got around to trying the "voice guidance off" this weekend. Works great.

However, I do with Audi would integrate the mute button on the steering wheel for the navigation voice. You can use the scroll wheel on the steering wheel to control the navigation volume, why not allow it to be muted?
