Default Real life MPG

Just a quick poll on real life MPG (please don't exaggerate). I drive in city traffic (mostly alone in the car) and my Long-term Memory counter shows 18.5 MPG(2012 A6 P+, quattro, 3.0T).

Someone posted in another thread their counter is showing 30 MPG in traffic!?!?!

I'd be curious what others' Long-Term Memory counter is showing. Please post driving conditions and engine size. Thanks.

Interesting that you post this now. I just changed out from Dunlops to Sumitomos and find that my mileage has increased about 1-2 mpg highway, but nothing much noticeable around town. With the 4.2 V8 in the A8, I am averaging 20 around town and 26 on the highway...

The long term memory in my car reads 27.5 currently but I do a lot of long distance drives. Usually in town it's low 20's, long rides 30ish (per computer). currently over 26k on the odometer and the mileage has been fairly consistent. 3.0T

2013 A6 Prestige, 3.0T engine. Long term memory reads 4151 miles / Avg Speed of 37 mph / avg. mpg of 23.5 mpg.

The 4151 miles is comprised of a few trips of ~200 miles, the rest is local driving (not city, but local roads with speeds of 25 to 30 mph).

On my most recent highway trip the short term memory showed 29 mpg and speeds were consistenly pushing around 75mph. No way can one hit 30 mpg city in this car/engine combo.

I'm about the same as you. Approx. 19 mpg longterm memory. I do a fair bit of city driving. On longer trips I do push 30 mpg.

Hi SmokingTires,

Seems like there's some confusion, let me expand on what I was saying a bit:

When I said my screen was showing 30mpg, that was the short trip screen - not the long term one. On that particular trip (I remember it well because I was shocked) it was about 30 miles or so and my average speed if I were to guess was 50mph - so clearly not a lot of traffic. I've had several other trips that are similar where I've seen numbers in the 28 range (30 was my highest).

I also said that the screen MPG isn't matching what I'm actually seeing at the gas station. It's pretty easy to calculate by filling up and dividing your mileage by the gallons you put in - that has put me in the 25mpg range.

Since I drive such long distances normally, I haven't had a real opportunity to be in 100% traffic yet - that's why checking at fill-up is more accurate for me. I don't drive in the city either, this is all freeway traffic.

I've had the car for about 2000 miles. We'll see what it ends up being in the long term, but one thing is for sure... it gets what I consider to be great gas mileage considering my Infiniti was doing 18 on a good day.

This is going to be an interesting thread, I'd love to see what everyone else is reporting. I know there's a few websites out there you can use to track mileage - maybe we can all start doing that and get some real numbers together?

I reset the long term per fill up, but this winter I was doing 22-23 on the long term per tank. About 30mph on the speed.

I am more impressed on my short term ride to the office. Right now I can get about 29 on my 3.0 Works for me.
