Default Recommendations for Independent Servicers on North Shore in Chicago?

Visited local dealer (most recently for engine dash light that came on) and was quoted astronomical repairs for unrelated items. When I check the forum here, saw quotes for same repair (leaking engine mounts) at half the estimated repair. Another example (and there's been numerous): dealer said battery tested at 70% functioning capacity and that install of OEM battery would be $700. Dealer said only option was OEM battery and dealer install b/c only dealer can reset codes. Called BS and rejected dealer diagnosis with no battery problems...for last 4 years. Any good Indy shops here on Chicago NorthS Shore (near Evanston)? Done playing Russian roulette with the dealers here. Thanks.

Since you're located in the Chicago North Shore area near Evanston, here are a few options you might consider for finding a reputable independent shop:

Evanston Auto Repair: Located in Evanston, this shop has been serving the community for many years and has a good reputation for quality service.
Another option in Evanston, Milex Complete Auto Care offers a range of automotive services and has experienced technicians who may be able to assist you.
Located in Northbrook, Autobahn Automotive Service specializes in German vehicles and may be able to provide expertise specific to your Audi.
This shop in Skokie specializes in European vehicles, including Audi, and offers a range of services including diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance.

Before choosing a shop, it's a good idea to do some research online, read reviews from other customers, and possibly even call and ask about their experience with Audi vehicles and their ability to reset codes and perform diagnostics. Additionally, inquire about their pricing for battery replacement and whether they use OEM parts or aftermarket alternatives.
