Well, I don't have an A6 (I have a 2013 A7) but my software is 0566 and the blue cable will not support streaming music apps like Pandora and MOG.

I stand corrected. Just tried my iPhone 3Gs with AMI red cable and was able to stream Pandora through (Bluetooth was off on the iPhone to be sure it was using the cable). However, I couldn't get any song info to display on the MMI screen, same condition as when streaming through Bluetooth audio. Couldn't confirm on the blue cable as had I traded it in for the red.
MMI software 0566
IOS 6.1.2

Good news. Looks like I will be purchasing a red cable soon and begging my dealer for the 0609 software upgrade.

I am about to get my first service on my 2013 Audi A6 Prestige. Is it difficult to get the dealer to do software updates? Is that part of the normal service? Why wouldn't they update the software?

Thanks.

Depending on when you got your '13 A6 you have MMI software 0566 or 0609 (the latest).

Their are several threads discussing software updates from a dealer. Normally, I would suggest a forum search but since the search function is erratic right now I'll point you to here:

https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho....php?t=2843827

Bottom line, you have at least MMI 0566 and there doesn't seem to be much difference anyone can confirm with 0609 except the removal of engine off with driver door opening and auto e-brake applied in park when engine is turned off. These two can be removed with a TSB by the dealer at the owner's request but the TSB doesn't update to a new software version.

My 2013 was an early build with 0566. It's possible they disengaged the auto parking brake at some point before 0609.

There is also an newer sw 0566 v.2 that had a preview view of street view. Maybe that one had this brake engaged update

Default PO118

I have a 2012 Q5 and the software version is hundred versions from the "supported versions". Bonkers! I have software version PO118. I was about to buy the red cable but now know the cable may not be supported... unless others tried it? Perhaps if I take it in with the red cable and complain it does not read my Ipod 4gen touch, they would update. Still under manufacture warranty + certified warranty.

Nope. As stated several times, you need MMI 0467 or higher, iOS 5.x or higher and a compatible iDevice.
