remote start for C7

My Audi dealer installed a Viper in my Q5, so it can be done. I wouldn't get it done by a 3rd party in case there are issues. At least with the dealer doing it there's only one place to point the finger.

Had a Viper "Value 2-Way" system installed by a local shop in my 2015 A6 not long after purchase. Went perfectly and works with zero problems and every other system works exactly the same.
Consulted with my dealer first, and he confirmed that it's not a problem for them as long as they don't think the system is related to whatever problem they might be troubleshooting.
You may find that some shops are more comfortable than others... first place I went to said it couldn't be done. Second place was totally cool and knew exactly how it would work.
I don't use it every day, but I don't mind getting into a completely warm car in the winter or cool car in the hot summer.

it is hilarious to read 'pundits' opinion about new england cold weather. in any event if I decide to go this route it will be an audi install or nothing.

I live in California now and miss the remote start very much that I had in other vehicles. I actually was surprised that it didn't come standard on the A6. It's nice to be able to jump in a cool 70 degree car when it's 105 outside. I sometime just leave it on when I'm getting coffee or another quick stop. It's too bad the car won't lock as long as it's on. It would be nice if it could lock while on so I don't have to worry about any unwanted guests. Maybe have a timer that if you don't come back it shuts off after 15 mins.

You leave the car running while you make a quick stop? Thieves hang around places like that just waiting for someone to leave a car running. Good luck.

I hope those who have retrofitted their C7s with remote start allow the car to remain locked. I would think that would require some coding (and/or maybe keyfob spoofing?) to achieve.

But yeah, I remember this one time my wife dropped me off somewhere and had to come back 2 minutes later coz I had the fob still in my pocket, so I'm aware it's not the best thing to do :P
