Default Tires for a car ?

I have a 2013 A6 Quattro with 20" wheels and I been using Michelin - Pilot Sport A/S 3+ for my tires but it seems that it barely lasts 1-1.5 years. I only drive about 10K miles a year and I am a fairly slow driver and live in North Texas where the roads are pretty smooth most of the time.

Which tires do you use and how long does it last?

I'm running Hankook Ventus V12 evo2's on mine and, while currently only 3000 miles and 1 year since they were put on (and bought the car), their tread seems barely touched at all. Moreover, at about $150 per tire I think that makes them approximately half the price of the Michelins and they handle well, are very capable in the wet and, while I can hear them if I focus on it, they certainly aren't the worst I've had on cars in general with regard to tire roar. They're purely a summer tire though so if you ever take trips further afield into the Rockies, I wouldn't be so sure of them. In their favor, I seen several tire reviews where they ranked very well against the more expensive tires.

I switched from Michelins to Conti Extreme contact DWS' on the A8 and have been happy. Nice All season tires.

DWS06 on A6 TDI second set, about 36,000 to 40,000 per set.

I currently have Hankook and they have been alright. based on the reviews I have read on tirerack.com I am going with all season Vredestein. From what I have read they handle everything great including snow.

I put a set of Nexen Nfera AU7 all season on. Only about 3500 miles on them so far but nothing bad to report. Our initial feelings were positive so there is that.

Also on second set of Conti DWS06, got 47,000 out of the first set so it was a no brainer to get them again. Quiet, smooth and decent wear. $213 a tire

I live in North Texas as well and am in the market for a new set of tires (255/35 R20). I am currently running Pirelli P Zeros which have been alright, but have typically run all-seasons in the past due to our random winter patterns (low temps and potential for ice). I was looking hard at the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+, but based on your mileage reports of 10k to 15k per set, I think I will steer clear. Was that with regular rotations?

Other than the Michelin 3+, I have been looking at the Conti DWS 06, as well as a newer Conti I found, the Control Contact Sport A/S which is only available through Discount Tire at $202/tire. It has the Y speed rating while the DWS 06 is W. I am leaning towards the Control Contact Sport, but no one seems to have any feedback on them yet. Maybe I will be the guinea pig!

Second this. Similarly, I am in the same shoes. Putting about 9k miles a year and to my surprise, my 2 years old pilot sport A/S 3+ have little life left.

A bit off topic, but I have my original all season tires that came with my 2016 A6 (S-Line) new. They only have about 8k miles on them as I switched to dedicated summer performance and snow tires after about a year into my ownership. I live in SoCal and would like to unload the tires now for $50 each if anyone is interested. They've been meticulously stored on a cool (not cold) first floor that was slightly damp so they haven't dried out in the least. Message me if you're interested..
