Default Turbo specs for S6

I've searched high and low for the answer, but no luck yet. Does anyone know what brand/size of twin scroll turbo is used in the S6/S7?

Strange that it would be such a secret. Fonzie has had the cover off to do his custom intake. I wonder if he was able to take a peek?

I had mine off when I was installing my intake as well and didn't see any noticeable markings to indicate manufacturer type.

The turbos are IHI RHF5.

Thanks. Where did you glean this info?

There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information on this turbo and it seems to be fairly old technology. I'm surprised Audi isn't using a Borg-Warner or equivalent.

There's benefit in having acquaintances who have ties to AoA and Audi AG .

I'm not familiar with IHT, but apparently Audi changed to them recently for the 2.0T motors. When I did a google search of IHT and A4, I found reference to discussion of IHT having better flow than Borg Warner.

Time will tell how good the IHT turbos are as the tuners start to do their thing. My source says the RHF5 used in the S6 is very likely to be a custom variant of this turbo, much like there are variants of the K03 and K04 used by Audi in the past.

Default did you ask about boost?

I hope while you were inquiring, you found out how much boost the stock turbos are set at. Hopefully low. That way the tuners will have some room for improvement.

I'm also curious as to whether the S8 uses the same turbo or a larger version. Might be telling about how much head-room there is with the "low power" version of the V8TT.

S8 uses half of the same turbo, cold side is different. It was also pointed out to me that the intake plumbing is different on an S8 vs S6, so it wouldn't be a drop in replacement of the S8 turbo.
