I'm guessing the reason they haven't released any info on the 3.0TDI is they still hope to provide an approved fix that doesn't affect performance, avoiding a buy back offer. Still they would have to offer money to owners to settle. Note that none of this affects the various lawsuits in progress although you can be sure if you take their deal (whatever it turns out to be) you will waive your rights to further litigation.

From what I have read (Ive looked through about every news alert that has come out in the past few hours), our cars remain an 'outstanding issue' and were not and will not be addressed today. So it looks like we will have to keep waiting. Guess the more you pay the longer you wait. Since there were no additional deadlines set for these outstanding issues, I am sure Audi will drag their feet. Interesting news considering that it is now coming to light that this entire culture of diesel deceit may have, in fact, originated with Audi and not VW.
I really hope that this is just a matter of all the details not being made public, and journalists just speculating that the 3.0L TDI was not included in todays agreements since no information on that engine leaked out. I guess in the next few days more official detail will come to light, at least one hopes.
"The scandal also involves about 80,000 3-liter diesel vehicles, including Audi sedans and Porsche crossovers. Those vehicles are not included in the agreement.
"It is the court’s expectation that the parties, in addition to finalizing the agreements that I just discussed, will work expeditiously on resolving these outstanding issues," Breyer said.

I was watching the CBS evening news with that guy that speaks like a robot and he was discussing the VW buyback program. As a bit of the history of the issue he said that VW had “installed defeat devices that allowed certain VW models to pass emissions tests that they otherwise would have failed.” I thought I had read that the emission tests could actually be passed by these VW models without the defeat device. The issue was VW’s developing and installing of the defeat devices, i.e., cheating. Can anyone here who really understands the issue (I do not) give me the straight story on this?
