'00 Avant: How to keep carpet under floor mat dry?
Greetings all!
With the recent deluge of multiple-inch snowstorms, I have noticed a problem with the otherwise excellent rubber floormats: even if I knock as much snow as possible off of my feet, the carpet along the left edge of the floormat gets quite wet. Apparently, it happens as the snow/slush on the driver's left foot melts and runs down the foot rest and under the floor mat.
Any suggestions on how to prevent this? We're starting to get a nice salt deposit along the wet/dry interface and I'm getting tired of cleaning it...

Here's another reason . . .
Those otherwise wonderful Audi winter floor mats channel all of the water down through the grooves and it exits through the holes where the "snaps" are located. All of the water then soaks UNDER the mat into the carpet. Need to cover or plug those holes.

for 39 months in Mass.(plenty of salty, wet feet) and the carpet was always dry and looked like new when I took them out (A6 Avant Black,Melange; lease return). Oh, they went
for $12 by the way.
