1.8T "low oil pressure " warning at low speed on long journey
i drove to France on holiday last week clocking 400 miles each way in my A6 1.8T year 2000 and started to get the "low oil pressure" warning when slowing for the toll booths. Oil temperature was between 60-80C and oil level was fine. Car has always had regular servicing and has done 108k miles
I have had the oil changed and flushed for 30 minutes and it hasn't happened since but i have only done short journeys since France trip.
any ideas guys ?

Have the pressure checked. It probably needs a pump.
Given the track record of the 1.8, I'd probably change the pump.
In the US, the A6 was not available with the 4 cylinder. You'll probably have better luck on the A4 forum.

Agreed, it could also be a faulty sender but is most likely the pump. We missed....
out on our normal trip to Sarlat en Perigord this year due to our youngest being only 5 months so not really up to 1000 miles each way.
Booked for next year already though!

You have to remember, the C4 2.8 was only 174bhp and the 1.8t in the A6 is rated at 180bhp with a...
better torque range so, whilst I have not driven one, I guess they are not bad at all. Most are FWD not q's thought so that will help also by lower overall weight, transmission losses and rotational inertia.

Ok, but he has a C5, and many here feel the 2.8 is on the slow side even with 200 hp...
I didn't know how much hp the 1.8T in the A6 had. I was under the impression it had 150 hp like the A4 or B5.5 Passat.

Actually (IIRC,) the 5-valve 2.8 only puts out 190hp. And if power is an issue, the
1.8T is much easier to upgrade. If I could have anything other than my V8, I'd have an old (turbo) inline-5. Great engine There's one on eBay right now with around 800hp, but he wants $15k for it.

'01 30v 2.8 = 200 hp .... not nearly as slow as reputed ...
I don't get that rap ... my other car's a 73 911 and the 2.8 is not that fast but it's not slow.
It's not a torquey stump puller so you use some revs accordingly (the pedal on the right) and it responds just fine.
