Default Re: If you did that, just make the car a 2.8 NA, transfer over the wiring harness and all associated

Thanks Carson-

I'm gonna wave off this one. I was hoping for a simple R&R

Default Question - why not rebuild the engine in the 2.7T and put it back in its own body?

Honestly, that's the simplest way to go. Doing a conversion like the one you're asking about is a LOT of work with lots of pitfalls. Not that it can't be done, but the problems multiply like crazy.

That is an option, but I have not yet purchased the 2.7T. I will look next at what is wrong with it and decide whether it is worth rebuilding.

Default Probably easy to do, Audi was simply lazy and made a whole different engine vs slapping turbos on

the 2.8L...

I think that would be far more labor than just repairing the 2.7T

I've got a spare set of heads if you need them after checking out the damage...

Default Uh. No. The bore is smaller to deal with turbo. 4 bolt mains vs 2. Oiling.

Lots of internal differences between the 2.8 and 2.7t.

Default Not even close.

oil sprays
thicker walls/smaller bore
forged crank
different pistons
different rods
different sump

and it goers on and on.
