Default 2000 2.7t suspension upgrade question.....

My non sport car is running on 17 inch Avus S4 wheels with 235/45 bridgestone RE730's. Having driven a 2002 sport 2.7t last week I am thinking about what options I might have to upgrade. My car is over half way through its lease so I do not want to spend too much but I would enjoy a firmer and more responsive ride. What is my best bet?????

Default I could not see investing in mods for a leased car. Do you intend to return it with the mods?.

If you intend to return it to stock, maybe we can work out a deal where I take you stuff (wheels and maybe suspension bits) so you can get your investment back (subject to wear & tear of course.

I was talking about just this subject with my dealer yesterday but it was to further reduce the roll on my 2001 factory sport 2.7T. Upgraded springs and shocks plus larger diameter front sway bar is what you need. This is the standard Factory Sport config.

I don't know of any aftermarket suppliers of sway bars. Perhaps another member can help. Cost perhaps $300 (my guesstimate).

There are shocks and springs available from Koni, Eibach and others. Could set you back close to a grand. Installation is about 8 hours, so estimate another $900.

Total could be over $2000. I think it is too much for a car midway thru its lease...you won't get it back unless you buy the car (I wouldn't).

How about just front and rear sway bars? At least you would control some of the roll. And installation is a snap (you could do it).

Default Just do the rear sway bar - I did and WOW.

Got it from Clair for $89 plus shipping. Installed it myself in 1 1/2 hrs. Phenominal improvement in the turns, yet no ride degradation whatsoever. DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! You won't regret it. There's even a tech article (link below) that walks through the install procedure.

BTW, I already had 17" rubber, too. And I only have 6 months left on my lease.

Oops - I had the wrong URL. Fixed now. Sorry.

https://www.audiworld.com/forum/m/a6/msgs/28067.phtml</a

Default It's actually a lot less if you don't go through a dealer.

You can upgrade to Eibach springs:

springs: $280
install by audi: $550
install by good euro installer: < $300

Eibach shocks: $170/ea from shox.com
install by audi: $550
install by good euro installer: < $300

If you get the shocks and springs done at the same time it should not take them much longer so say an extra $50 to $100. So say for an install of shocks and springs by Audi $650, or by another installed $400. Make sure that they do an alignment too.

Not sure about the sway bar, but I would probably go with the rear first but that's just a matter of preference.

Especially suspension mods, which appear to be 2/3 labor.

Default You are way over-estimating labor costs at an Audi tuning shop

We charge $200-300 for typical suspension install/removal. Most Audi suspensions are $800-1600ish.
