2000 A6 2.7T Known problems?
I'm seriously thinking of buying an A6 2.7T (in Canada). I've heard rumors that they have been transmission and other serious problems with this model. Is that true? What is your experience with this model? Is the 2.8 a more reliable car?
Thanks in advance.

No transmission problems to speak of. But....
... with the 2000 model, there is some history of turbo trouble. Other issues are minor and consistent across all A6s.
I would favor a 2001, and get a warranty of some sort. 2.8 is less prone to trouble, but nowhere near as spunky as the 2.7T.

Re: Lots of synchro problems on the 6speeds though. Mainly on the S4 forum though...
The early 2000 production six speed transmissions had week synchros. They usually failed around the 40k mile range. Eventually the transmissions would either get stuck in gear or not shift out of neutral.
