Default 2000 A6 2.7t wholesale prices...FYI

I am thinking about getting a 2000 2.7t to replace my beloved 325is and here is what I saw them going for at this weeks Ohio Auto Auction. There were only 3 6spd's (which I would be buying), and prices seem similar for tip and stick.

Default Yikes - I hope $8200 was a misprint!

Even so, that's quite a range - $15,500 to $22,500 if you throw out the extremes.

Default Good reasons to lease...or buy 3 yr. old !!! ...... the average is

under $18500 and I even eliminated the lowest 2 and highest 2 and that averaged $18,825. At an average sticker price of say $41,000 (my 2000 was $45,000) that makes an average residual of 45%. Proof if any were needed that leasing with current residuals in biased in the customers favour. So if you can, lease a new car every 3 years, failing that maybe buy a 3 year old car at the auction.

Default But....can you buy a car there...what about the buyers fee.....and any reconditioning?

There are lots of 2.7Ts at the California auctions...some you would want..others you would definitely pass on. How did you get all those prices...from Manheim's web based MMR report?

Default You can't...but I can

Remember that most..almost all of these cars need some type of reconditioning done...

Default You are right...auction cars often need cleaning, dent repair, tires, etc...

but often you can get a nice car and even after fixing these things, save the several thousand dollars a dealer will mark it up.

Default Whenever there's a subvented lease, it's worth checking out very carefully

Cars depreciate like a M*F* in today's climate, it's not just an Audi thang. Take advantage of their disadvantage.
