A friend of mine is looking at replacing one of their Volvo Station Wagon. I am trying to find some specs on a 2000 A6 2.8 Quattro Avant. They have a new baby and she is wondering how much luggage space there is compared to a Volvo. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

I bought the A6 Avant from a Volvo dealer used lot (older couple had traded it for a C70 convertible, had 9945 miles on it) immediately after looking at a V70. Get your friend to sit in both cars. Unless the V70 has changed greatly, the A6 is just a much nicer car.

True story: As we were closing on the A6, and were waiting around for something to happen in the Volvo used car lot manager's office, the used car manager said this (paraphrasing):

"I'm so glad you're taking this car off of my lot. We don't normally keep non-Volvos on the lot, but figured this was a nice enough car to sit with the Volvos. Now I've got all these Volvo salesmen that eat, breath, sleep Volvos - and they've been fighting each other over who gets to drive that car to lunch!"

Yep. The dang things are just SOLID.

I think the floor space of the rear compartment are about the same size, but the Volvo is taller, and more square, so overall luggage capacity is higher. However, for strollers and stuff that sits on the floor back there, the two cars are about the same.
