2000 Audi A6 4.2 Automatic gear shift problems...

Just curious if anyone knows what the problem with my car is? I have a 4.2 2000 A6; just the other day, the dash lights that show what gear I'm in all changed to a solid color, and now my car doesn't shift. If I restart it, the lights clear out but as soon as I press again on the gas I have to rev it real high to make it crawl along. Any ideas?

Oh boy...mine did the same thing I now have a new trans, I was supposed to pick it up last Friday and Barrier said that the car is stuck in limp mode ECU is now bad and my warranty company is pissed. It's been two months the ECU is another $1300.00 half tempted to just pay it. But my Warranty company has put me through the ringer and I'm about to have a laywer send a nasty gram...The warranty company is now blaming Barrier for the ECU going bad. At this rate I might get my car back in Feb 07. Sorry for my rant, your problem could be either issue.

Could be a blown tranny. Get that diagnosed immediately!

Tranny probably shot!!! welcome to the world of Audi ownership. Great cars but very expensive to fix and maintain out of pocket

Thanks for the info everyone. I was hoping it was maybe just an electronic glitch but it sounds like more. I'm taking it in to Audi servicing today so will let you guys know...
