Ok I cleared the codes by resetting the ecu by disconnecting the battery. I can tell I'm going to need a code tool or vag com I don't need to be playing with any parameters just want to be able to read codes the car is giving. And want to be able to get all the codes not like autozone when I go there the readers they have don't tell you everything. I would like to not spend 250 for vag com and see the ebay com cords are they any good? Can you guys tell me if there is a good cheap one that will let me clear codes and read codes.

Disconnecting the battery will not clear the codes.

Get a cheap KKL ebay cable, and vcds lite (the free version). It will allow you to read and clear codes. If you need more functionality, then register your cheap cable for 99 bucks.

It's no different than elmscan or any other obdII dongle/software deal similar in price, in short you see some real time stuff with no coding
over a hand held scanner.

Buy an ebay dongle 30 bucks and pay 100 bucks for the Ross Tech software, I cringe while suggesting this but it will safe you a few bucks

Also Im looking at icm delete and coil pack upgrade. Do you have to upgrade the coil packs to delete the icm? Can I delete the icm and keep using the current coil packs?

No. You have to replace the coils as the newer coils have the ICM's built in.

I'm really starting to think to do the icm delete but I'm thinking hardwire it but I'm having trouble with the wiring im bad with diagrams and was trying to find a step by step write up on it but have not had luck. I would be able to use the diagram better if I could see what is what like num1 is this spot on this plug ect.. Do you guys know if there's a write up somewhere I missed on this?
