Default 2001 A6 2.7T

According to several local dealers in the SF Bay area, if you order an A6 now, what you'll get is a 2001 model, and there are some changes. One of these is the elimination of the Royal Blue leather interior. I wanted that with the light silver exterior. I don't want the Onyx,r Tungsten, or Maroon leather, so that leaves only the Vanilla/Royal Blue trim, which no dealer has. Does anyone have a Lt. Silver A6 with the V/RB interior, or have you seen one? What is your opinion of it if you have?

Default Pricing won't arrive until just before the cars arrive

My first batch of 2001 cars was ordered mid-March. I have been told that the price increase will be 3 to 4% in the worst case. All I can say about carorder and their ilk, is that the pricing does reflect some compromises to be made by the customer.

No, the full blue int. will not be offered anymore. It is very blue ! Here in sunny So Cal, it is a tad bright. Looks fantastic on darker days.

That's true about pricing, but you can order one now, at least through a dealer, maybe not on the internet. Other changes: apparently, they won't be changing the base price, or if they do, it will be minor, but they have eliminated most of the separately-available options and made the packages bigger, so they will doubtless make the packages more expensive for 2001 than the cost of the options separately this year. The sport package is unchanged. The convenience package has been renamed the prefered luxury package, and includes sunroof, leather, homeline, and seat position memory for both the driver and passenger. The premium package includes zenon headlights, auto-dimming mirrors, and tiptronic controls on the steering wheel. The navagation package includes the Audi navagation system and accoustic parking assistance. The cold weather package is unchanged; the warm weather package is now only the shades, with the solar-panel sunroof and fans gone. Also gone are the radio controls on the steering wheel. The only separately-available options are the Bose upgrade and the CD changer. ESP is standard. Keep in mind all of this is for the 2.7T; the packages may vary for other models.

Default Addendum

I figured you knew, April/verdergrrl, but probably many others don't, like me until yesterday, after much badgering of dealers (who want to clear out their 2000 inventory, not order 2001 models). I forgot to mention a few other options, because I don't care about them, I guess. The rear side airbags remain an option (all of them in one package, not split into two options like for 2000), as well as the hands-free mobile phone. The engine stays the same.

I didn't inquire, as I'm not interested in that model, but if the dealers have the info on the 2.7T, they must have it for the 4.2 as well. You will probably have to do some badgering to get a dealer to tell you anything. They're not very forthcoming about the 2001's as they're trying to clear out their inventory of 2000's including the ones they have on order but which are not at their dealership yet. Also, no pricing is available for the 2001's yet, so dealers don't want to talk about them too much as, at this point, they must be ordered "blind" and the dealer runs the risk of the customer balking when the car arrives, because of a price increase. I don't care, myself, I want the A6 2.7T and I want a 2001, as there aren't any 2000's available or on order that have exacatly the conformation I want.
