Which engine is in your A6? My friend's BMW shop changes lots of Audi V6 timing belts and water pumps (I lend them the factory special camshaft tools). What did the Fred Lavery, Suburban or Rochester Hills quote you for the job?

Autohaus

Royal Oak, MI 48073

I've never had work done there or know their rates. I found this place in my search for an Allroad.

i don't think ANY shop will be cheap .. that is a major job and one you just have to live with if you own an Audi .. unless you can do it yourself.. and besides even if you do find a cheap shop .. you get what you pay for .. i think 1200 is reasonable for that job based on others input of prices being payed .. The PO of my car was quoted over 3 Grand for a timing belt Joab and brake job including all 4 rotors at the dealer .. that is how I ended up with it for 1 thousand dollars .. he wasn't prepared to pay the ongong maintanance costs..

Hi all, im new to this forum as i just bought 02 audi a6 3.0 quattro with 85K miles. The CEL just came on and it says camshaft position sensor bank 2 on normal obdII reader that my buddy has(i've bought ebay vagcom cable and download the VCDS+ordering bentley manual). Im just wondering which part should i buy? the impulse sender, position sender, engine camshaft position sensor, or will it be reference mark sensor? I have also bought the rear brake pad as the current one is about to be out. Is there any specialty tools needed or is it just like normal brake pad change? Another thing, when i brake, the front driver side seems to lock and unlock the brake when it's close to a full stop. No ABS light is on, but the axle boot is torn, which put lots of oil/gunk. At first i suspect this nasty thing makes the sensor dirty and read improperly, but after i clean it up, it still do this thing (gonna change the axle this friday too), any idea on what might cause this? appreciate all the help

I am looking to buy a 2001 A6 2.8L with 105k, the current owner does not believe the timing belt/water pump has been done? What price range can I can expect to pay? Local shops in Metro Detroit Area? Thanks!
