2002 S6 exhaust

2002 S6 exhaust
My neighbor just installed some Dinan mods (chip, filter, exhaust) on his 2006 Mini
Cooper S, and it sounds great...
Great tone and "berble/gergle" sounds.
I want to get a better exhaust sound/tone from my 2002 S6. A friend has 2006 S4 with Milltek catback, and it sounds good, but it would be ok if I could get a little more sound.
I want to do the catback instead of another route, as I think it will be easier to get it back to OEM if needed.
I have searched past postings, and it looked like Milltek and Magnaflow were the most mentioned, but most postings were older.
Will another air filter help the exhaust note on an S6 ....
Please advise if you have any exhaust advise.
-Thanks-

Re: simpler solution....
cut out the resonator and put straight pipes. More raspy sounding and then deep throaty sound when up to operating temp. Still pretty quiet. Frees up more horsies and engine (oil) runs cooler by 25 degrees. I did it for my A6 4.2 muffler shop charge me $150.

Re: I wonder how it will sound for a 2.7t because that sounds like a great, cost effective idea..
A couple of people have done it for a 2.7T. believe the benefits are greater.

But sucks to start cutting in the bumper
so if you're going with the resonator cutting
+ tips alternative I'd get some tips that fit the original cutouts if I was you.
About filter I had the same thoughts as you but decided to skip the whole thing since the car sounds brutal enough when I hit the gas only from the RS6 exhaust. Even with the non-SE version people far away are turning their heads, so I take that as a message from my surrounding that additional sound from my side not is needed :-)
Like you say it's also a piece of cake to go back to stealth mode if you do the catback solution. For the RS6 you only need a muff to make the transition from larger RS6 pipes to tiny S6.

So ... If I don't want to cut the bumper, and
I need an easy way to get the car back to oen if needed, it sounds like catback is best option .... Any suggestions for catback maker or decent source.
Thanks

In addition to those you already mentioned
I heard people are happy with Supersprint, Eisenmann, and Cargraphic's products. Have no personal experience from any of them but I think the last 2 mentioned have 2 different versions depending on how much sound you want. Also as the well known brands are pretty expensive, it might be just as good to have one fabricated. Naturally if you find a RS6system for cheap it would also be simple to just have new tips welded on.
