Are 225/55/16 Pliot Sport A/S okay for 2.7T?
I was going to get some 215/55/16 Pliot Sport A/S but they didn't have any in stock. The guy there suggested 225/55/16 instead. When I got home, I noticed that there isn't much clearance with the upper arm (I haven't check other part of the suspension).
I don't mind the speedo errors but I do mind any kind of damage to my car and/or tires. Do you think the 225's are okay?
BTW, I have a 2000 2.7T with sports package wheels (16x7?).
Thanks,
Mike

At first, I thought that it would make the sidewall too high, but according to this link, it is only a .2" difference so it should fit.

I have that size as winter tires on my A6 4.2, but the rim is 1" wider.

It'll be fine, please read on
people have put wider tires and rims on their 2.7 with lowered suspension with no problem at all. I myself have 235/40/18 with 18x8.5 rims with Eibach springs
Other than inaccurate reading on the speedometer; don't see any problems at all as long as all four tires are the same size.

Re: careful-can someone confirm 225/50-16 <more>
You are correct there is very little room with the offset of the stock 16x7. I suspect you might have to shim the front wheel offset. The Silver 2,7tt 18x8.5 are different offset that sits more outboard to clear the control arm. My concern is that his antidotal comment may not reflect your situation accurately.
I would do my homework first, but I only know the question exists, not the answer.

Thank you for your responses. I am glad there's AudiWorld.
It has been a couple days. No unusual noise. No obvious damage to tire. I assume there's no rubbing. It's been 2 days but I like the new tires so far. (I had Dunlop 9000's before) It seems quieter when the road is smooth but a bit noisier when the road is rough. I think the famous 65-70MPH vibration is gone too. I have to double check tonight.
FYI.. When I am doing 65MPH, my handheld GPS tells me that I am really doing 68MPH.
