3 17" Pirelli P6 all seasons with 20,000 miles &
1 brand new 17" Pirelli P6 all season tire. How would this affect quattro? My service advisor told me it wouldn't matter. What do you all think?
Thanks in advance.

how much tread left on the other 3 tires?
New tires have 10/32" tread. I think I have seen earlier posts about 4/32" tolerance for Quattro. As long as you have more than 6/32" of tread left on the other three, you should be okay.

Word on the street is you can have the new tire shaved down a bit to match the others.
I haven't had this done myself, but I've heard others mention it on this forum. Maybe worth a search. In answer to your original question, I might be a bit wary of a 20k mile difference in the tires.

it will be close...
the magic number with quattros is 3% as in all tires within 3% size/circ of each other.
so new tires have 10/32nds of tread and fully spent tires have 2/32nds... this just happens to work out to approx 3% difference.
so as long as your current tires have >2/32nds adding a new tire will work.
just measure the tread in several spots on all 3 tires.
my guess is you will have 4-5/32nds left.
yes the new tire can be shaved but you will be taking considerable life from the tire when it will work as is.
otoh if your current tires have >20k they will likely need replacement in the next 10-15k anyway.
cheers
